Ora W. Boone

Ora W. Boone, age 88, of Abbottstown went to be with his wife of 68 years, Hazel (Beamer) Boone on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 with his family by his side. He was born Sunday, May 7, 1922 in Winchester, VA the son of the late William W. and Mary F. (Swisher) Boone. Mr. Boone retired from Jiffy Manufacturing in 1987. He was a member of New Oxford Social and Athletic Club and the Gettysburg VFW. He served in the US Army during WWII. He is survived by his children Shelby Secrist, Chambersburg, Peggy Boone, Abbottstown, Linda Pittinger, New Oxford, Connie Boyd and husband Joe, Littlestown, Frances Boone, Abbottstown, Gail Funk and husband William, New Oxford, Randy Boone and wife Janet, East Meadow, NY, Daniel Boone and wife Vicki, New Oxford; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mr. Boone enjoyed spending time with his family, watching sports, collecting baseball cards and other collectibles. Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., Bendersville. Rev. Allen R. Joines will officiate at Funeral Services on Friday, August 6 at 10:00 AM. Interment will be in Wenksville Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Thursday August 5, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and also on Friday August 6 beginning at 9:00 AM until time of services. All services will be held at Dugan Funeral Home, 111 S. Main Street, Bendersville. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 3535, Gettysburg, PA 17325 and Hospice of Hanover, 440 N. Madison St., Hanover, PA 17331.
