Paul Michael French

Paul Michael French, age 70 of Fairfield, peacefully left this earth on Wednesday, February 21, 2018. Born in Manhattan, New York on August 4, 1947, he was the son of the late Donald P. French and Carmela (DeSalvo) French. He grew up in North Wales, PA before attending Millersville University. He later acquired his Master’s Degree in Economics and Political Science from McDaniel College. Paul will be remembered as the big man with a warm heart. He was a protector of others, eager to advocate for those less fortunate. He believed a good education is a right of all and essential to a vibrant society. He taught many lessons and encouraged the best in people. In his younger years, he loved to sail, travel and study. He was an avid reader until diminished sight kept him from it, but he continued to appreciate learning and sharing knowledge. His solar home was his haven, where he enjoyed listening to the birds and admiring his growing trees, a man appreciative of nature and its’ gifts. Paul was a caring, nurturing and thoughtful father of Caroline R. French and Gideon M. French (Meredith), and step-father to Emily Glassman (Noah). He was “Poppy” to step-granddaughter “Lana Lou”. He was cared for and loved by his wife of 12 years, Lorraine Rauch French. He loved his family dearly. This gentle-giant will be greatly missed by all those he touched with his words, and will be remembered by his intelligence, perspective, and spiritual approach to life’s challenges. His family and friends are happy to know and love Paul, now grateful that he is at peace. Cremation services have been entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 S. Main Street, Bendersville. A memorial service celebrating Paul’s life will be held on March 20 at 11:30 AM at Fairfield Mennonite Church, 201 W. Main St., Fairfield with Pastor Brenda Walter officiating.
