Peggy L. Stine, age 82, of Shippensburg, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 11, 2024 surrounded by her loving family at her home in Shippensburg. She was born July 17, 1941 in Chambersburg, as the daughter of the late Charles E. and Ada E. (Hocker) Upperman.
Peggy graduated from Chambersburg High School. She went on to study cosmetology at a beauty school and opened up her own shop out of her home in Edenville. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Chambersburg, VFW in Mercersburg, and Ladies Auxiliary. In her spare time, Peggy enjoyed playing Bingo. She was very involved in her community where some of her friends and especially her significant other, Ray Jenkins, enjoyed playing dominoes and chatting on their porches.
Peggy is survived by her daughter, Virginia “Ginny” L. Frehn and her husband, Robert, Jr., of Walnut Bottom; son, George “Rick” Stine, Jr., of Saint Thomas, PA; two grandsons, Robert L. Frehn, III, Sean M. Frehn; three granddaughters; many great-grandchildren; two sisters, Janice Stoy and her husband, Rick of Chambersburg and Matilda Stine of Ft. Loudon; several nieces and nephews and her beloved dog, Sophie.
In addition to her parents, Peggy is preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, George R. Stine, Sr., who passed away October 7, 2013; son, Steven R. Stine; two sisters, Alva Kline, Arlene Hull and four brothers, Donald, Richard, Arthur and Charles Upperman.
Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Shippensburg. Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg, PA 17257 with Rev. Patricia Dickson officiating. A Visitation will take place from 1:00 PM until the time of services.
