Ralph E. Decker

Ralph E. Decker, age 89, of Lane Avenue, Gettysburg died on Friday, December 31, 2010 at Gettysburg Hospital. He was born on Monday, April 25, 1921 in Heidlersburg, the son of the late William C. and Florence B. (Trimmer) Decker. Ralph graduated from Biglerville High School in 1939. He was employed by General Motors in Baltimore for 30 years before he retired. He is survived by his wife Ruth J. (Hinkle) Decker to whom he was married for 65 years. He is also survived by six daughters: Rita J. Benecewicz, Parkville, MD, Roberta L. Mentzer, Gardners, Deborah J. Gerber, Baltimore, MD, Peggy L. Cooper, Brighton, CO, Diane M. Leonard, Franklin, WV and Tammie S. Decker, Essex, MD. He is also survived by a sister, Verna Frankenfield of Heidlersburg, nine grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother Clarence R. Decker and sisters Genevieve Burgess and Nellie Thomas. Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, January 6 atDugan Funeral Home, with the Reverend Daniel Isaac officiating.Interment will be in Hampton Cemetery. A viewing will be held Wednesday, January 5, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home and also on Thursday from 10:00 AM until time of services.
