Ralph S. (Junie) Sandoe, age 87 of New Oxford, formerly of Biglerville, passed away Sunday, January 4, 2015 at Brethren Home in New Oxford with his loving family by his side. He was born Sunday, November 13, 1927 in Biglerville, the son of the late Ralph T. and Margaret (Scurfield) Sandoe. Ralph graduated from Biglerville High School in 1946. He and his wife Sara owned and operated Sandoe's Fruit Market and Wholesale for 38 years. He was a lifetime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Biglerville, F A M Good Samaritan Lodge 336 in Gettysburg, Upper Adams Lions Club where he was a former Lion Of the Year, Adams County Fruit Growers Association and Biglerville Fire Company. The PA Horticultural Association named Ralph Outstanding Horticulturalist in 1987. He served on the board of directors for Adams County National Bank and the Biglerville Cemetery. Ralph was an avid Penn State fan and enjoyed hunting and playing cards. He served in the US Army during World War II from September 1946 until March of 1948. He is survived by his wife of 61 and a half years, Sara (Mickley) Sandoe. He is also survived by two daughters, Susan P. and husband Frank Pizzuto of Biglerville, and Carolyn L. and husband Bill Godwin of Garland, TX; four grandchildren, Sarah and husband Michael Martin of New Cumberland, Jacqueline Pizzuto of Pittsburgh, Kelly Pizzuto of Nashville, TN and Jacob Godwin of Arlington, TX and one great-grandson Zachary Martin. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Isabell Guise, Elizabeth Bream and Nettie Helsley and two brothers, James and David Sandoe. Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 S. Main Street, Bendersville. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 10 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 25 Franklin Street, Biglerville with Reverend Susan McCarthy officiating. Interment will be in Biglerville Cemetery. A visitation and reception will be held following the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church and Adams County Fruit Growers Association, 33 Musselman Avenue, Biglerville, PA 17307.
