Ray D. Smith

Ray Dawson Smith, age 61 of Newburg, passed away Friday, March 23, 2018 at his home. He was born Sunday, February 24, 1957 in Pittsburgh, the child of the late Ray and Lois (Dawson) Smith. He was a graduate of Peabody High School in Pittsburgh. Following high school he attended California University of Pennsylvania where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Education. He earned his Masters of Arts at both Shippensburg University and Wilson College. He worked and retired from the Scotland School for Veteran’s Children and afterwards continued to work for Volvo in Shippensburg. He was an avid board gamer and designed and distributed several games himself. He enjoyed being outside in the company of his horses, Anastasia and Avalon. Ray loved to travel the world with his family. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Lia Alexander, siblings, Nancy Smith Nissley (James Edward) of Hilton Head Island, SC, James Monier Smith, William Harper Smith both of Pittsburgh and Marcia Lois Smith of Lutz, FL.
