Raymond Galen Martin

Raymond Galen Martin, age 81 of Shippensburg, passed away January 21, 2025 at Menno Haven. He was born May 26, 1943 in Chambersburg to the late Raymond C. and Cora (Hawbaker) Martin. He was also preceded in death by his step-mother, Helen Boll.

Galen was a farmer and owner of Martin’s Well Drilling. He was a member of Rowe Mennonite Church and enjoyed traveling, hiking and working. Galen remained very active his entire life and donated countless amounts of blood, donating every time he was eligible.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Gail (Martin) Martin of Shippensburg; children, Derwood “Woody” Martin and wife, Wendy of Shippensburg, Devonna “Voni” Diem of Shippensburg, Gwen Horst and husband, Dale of N. Lawrence, OH, Darla Druist and husband, Harlan of Shippensburg, Deanne Raines and husband, Edward of Bedford, Regan Martin of Hagerstown, MD, Stacy Wiser and husband, Ron of Newburg and Ramon Martin and wife, Tammy of Newburg; 30 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and brothers, Eugene Martin and wife, Nancy of Orrstown, Guy Martin of Lancaster, Dwight Martin and wife Joanne of Shippensburg and Allen Martin and wife, Joyce of Shippensburg. Galen was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Genevieve Martin; son-in-law, Eugene Diem; sister, Rosemary Keener and her husband, George and a great-grandchild

Professional services have been entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg. A viewing will be held at Rowe Mennonite Church, 754 Pinola Road, Shippensburg, PA 17257 on Friday, January 24 from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 10:30am at the church, with a meal to follow services. Galen will be laid to rest at Rowe Mennonite Cemetery.
