Rene G. Black, age 86 of Biglerville, passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at his home. He was born Saturday, October 5, 1929 in Menallen Twp., Adams Co., the son of the late Nelson L. and Edna M. (Showers) Black. Rene graduated from Biglerville High School in 1948. He, along with his brother Maurice and neighbor Charles Black, performed general construction and remodeling. Prior to carpenter work, he farmed fruit with his brother Roy. He was a member of Wenksville United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Arliss M. (Gochenauer) Black. He is also survived by three daughters, Kathy A. and husband Wallace Singley of Biglerville, Debra L. and husband Lonnie Sneeringer of Biglerville, and Tina M. and husband Harold Reynolds of New Oxford, five grandchildren, Buddy Redden, Brandi Melhorn, Jason Baldwin, Amber DiMarco, Tiffani Singley, three step-grandchildren, Andrew Reynolds, Alexa Reynolds, Dana Zapcic, two great-grandchildren, Gavin Redden and Garret Melhorn, step-great-grandson, Gunnar Zapcic, and two sisters, Louene M. and husband Bill Warrenfeltz and Levona A. Pitzer, both of Biglerville. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Maurice E. and Roy H. Black and sisters, Mae F. Showers and Ruby V. Cole. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, June 11at Wenksville United Methodist Church, 2010 Wenksville Road, Biglerville with Reverend Rick Robinson officiating. Interment will be in Wenksville Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Friday, June 10 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Dugan Funeral Home. Friends and family may also view at the church on Saturday from 9:00 AM until time of services. Memorial contributions may be made to Spiritrust Hospice, 260 W. High Street, Gettysburg, PA 17325.
