June 18, 1950 — December 21, 2016

Richard L. Bean, Golden Bear, to his friends, age 66 of Aspers, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at York Hospital. He was born Sunday, June 18, 1950 in Gettysburg the son of the late Cecil W. and Elda M. (Gardner) Bean. Rick graduated from Biglerville High School in 1969. He had farmed with his brother and father most of his life, retiring from fruit farming in 2015. He had a fruit stand in the Village Craft Farmers Market in Carlisle. He attended Centenary United Methodist Church in Biglerville, was a life member of Bendersville Fire Company and volunteered at the Upper Adams Food Bank. Rick was an avid Orioles and Ravens Fan. He enjoyed auctions and sporting events. He is survived by his brother, Ronald D. and wife Jane Bean of New Oxford, sister-in-law Ann Bean of Morgantown, nieces Carol (Randy) Ritter of Morgantown, Denise (Mark) Wilson of Baltimore, Angela (Russell) McMaster of New Oxford and Adrianne Redding of Thomasville. He was preceded in death by his brother Donald W. Bean. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 27 at Dugan Funeral Home with Reverend Gary Fanus officiating. Interment will be in Bendersville Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until time of services. Memorial contributions may be made to Hart Center, 450 East Golden Lane, P.O. Box 397, New Oxford, PA 17350.
