Richard Cline

December 14, 1935 — February 21, 2017

Richard Cline, age 81, of Shippensburg, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at Carlisle Regional Medical Center. He was born Saturday, December 14, 1935 in Toledo, OH, the son of the late Homer L. and Harriet L. (Cross) Cline. Richard graduated from Maumee High School in Maumee, OH in 1955. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Education from Adrian College in Michigan. He received his Master's in Education from Univ. of Toledo. He began his teaching career in North Branch Michigan teaching English and Speech. He directed school plays and coached sports. After two years, he then returned to Maumee School District where he taught for eight years. He was assistant principal in Sydney OH for two years. He was principal of South Amherst High School for two years, Willard High School for four years, Fairless Navarre High School for four years. He became superintendent of North Union Local School District in Richwood, OH, where he served for two years. He then was superintendent of Copley Fairlawn School District for four years. He retired from Chillicothe School District after five years of service. Dick had a true passion for golf. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Janet L. (Casey) Cline. He is also survived by his daughter, Tami L. and husband Anthony Albanese of Morristown, NJ, one son, Michael S. and wife Wendy Cline of Ravenna, OH, five grandchildren, AJ and CJ Albanese, Abbey, Emma and Natalie Cline and one brother, Ronald L. and wife Janice Cline of Monclova, OH. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lilly Cline. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. A Celebration of Dick's Life will be held at 7:00 PM on Friday, February 24 at Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg with Reverend Derek Wadlington officiating. A visitation will be held on Friday from 6:00 PM until time of services. Memorial contributions may be made to Shippensburg University Foundation - Women's Volleyball Team, 500 Newburg Road, Shippensburg, PA 17257.
