Richard L. Galusha

June 5, 1921 — December 19, 2015

Richard L. Galusha, age 94 of Arendtsville, passed away Saturday, December 19, 2015 at York Hospital. He was born Sunday, June 5, 1921 in Almond, NY, the son of Orin T. and Nellie (Mackley) Galusha. Dick graduated from Almond High School in 1939 and from Alfred University in Alfred, NY, earning a degree in Ceramic Engineering. Later, he was a partner in Keystone Ridgeway Tile Company in Bendersville, which was subsequently purchased by Dal Tile. He and his brother Rex founded Continental Ceramic Corporation and after a successful career, they sold it to Pfaltzgraff Corporation. Richard then went on to sell real estate for Key Real Estate, Golden Realty and Sites Realty. Richard served as one of the directors of the Bendersville National Bank and later was a director of Adams County National Bank. He was a member of the Elks in Gettysburg, where he was in the bowling league. He was also a member of the Tile Council of America, where he held a leadership position. Richard is survived by three sons, three daughters and a step-son. He married Catherine (Kitty) Galusha, who passed away in 1966. His sons of that marriage are Charles O. Galusha of Aspers,and Richard L. Galusha, Jr. of Buffalo, Wyoming; their three daughters are Lyn DiVincenzo and husband Ed of Orlando, FL, Marie Kelsch of Augusta, KY and Pauline Streett and husband Don Wert of Biglerville. Following Kitty's death, he married Ann (Brennan) Weaver and is survived by their son, Joseph W. Galusha of Hanover and stepson, Don Weaver and wife Connie of Aspers. He is also survived by his wife of 17 years, Elaine M. (Yohe) Galusha and three step-daughters, Sally and husband Todd Gardner of Biglerville, Julianne Thompson and companion Robert Taylor of Hanover and Aimee Stambaugh and companion Doug Horick of Aspers. In addition, he is survived by his niece, Barb Thomas and companion Bob Torrey of Bolivar, NY; nephew, Roger Campion and his wife Anita of South Carolina; nephew, James Galusha and his wife Marty of VA; nephew, Paul Galusha of VA, 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 8 step-grandchildren, and 9 step-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and first two wives, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim and Rex; two sisters, Betty Nicholson and Genevieve Campion and three grandchildren, Michelle and Heather Streett and Catherine Kelsch. Professional services are entrusted to the Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville, PA. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Monday, December 28 at Dugan Funeral Home with Reverend Richard Godfrey officiating. Interment will be in Bendersville Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, December 27, from 3:00 - 5:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gettysburg Church of the Brethren, 1710 Biglerville Road, Gettysburg, PA 17325.
