Richard Eugene Gardner, age 63 of York Springs, passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at his home. He was born Monday, September 16, 1955 in Gettysburg, the son of Marian K. (Moser) Gardner of York Springs and the late Benjamin V. Gardner, Sr. Rick attended Bermudian Springs High School. He was formerly employed as a roofer. He owned and operated Monkey Dwarf Bar in Altoona for many years. He was a member of American Legion of Altoona, and Mountain Top Sportsman's Association in Altoona. Rick was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed playing the lottery and watching the Buffalo Bills. In addition to his mother, he is also survived by two sons, Ricky Gardner of Wellsville, and Kevin Mitzler, one sister, Patty and husband Phil Bream of Gardners, six brothers, Benjamin V. and wife Susan Gardner, Jr. of York Springs, Mitchell Gardner of New Oxford, Michael and wife Debra Gardner of East Berlin, Roger Gardner of York Springs, Jerry Gardner of New Oxford and Randy Gardner of York Springs. He will be greatly missed by his close friend, Carolyn Miller. Cremation services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Private services will be held at the discretion of the family.
