Richard H. Laughlin

Richard H. Laughlin, age 72 of Newburg, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 19, 2014. He was born Thursday, January 1, 1942 in Newburg, the son of the late Hughie and Dorothy (Dunlap) Laughlin. Richard was employed by the News Chronicle and retired from the Shippensburg University Police Department with the rank of Sergeant. He was an Active Member of the Fraternal Order of Police Tri-County Lodge No. 76, a member of Durff-Kuhn VFW Post 6168, the Tall Cedars of Lebanon Lodge 145, Cumberland Valley Lodge 315 and a Life Member of the Newburg Fire Company and a member of their Fire Police. He enjoyed camping, fishing, boating and hunting and was fond of camping at Chincoteague, VA. He loved his grandchildren, Erin and RJ, spending time at his cabin in Huntingdon County and his little toy fox terrier, Mandy. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Rachel Laughlin, his son, Richard Laughlin II husband of Christine and two grandchildren, Richard Laughlin III and Erin Laughlin, all of Newburg, PA. Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Shippensburg. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg with Pastor Dale Miller, Jr. and Pastor John Byers officiating. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, February 25 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Masonic Services will be held at 7:00 PM.
