Richard L. Ordway

Richard L. (Jake) Ordway, age 77 of Shippensburg, passed away Friday, June 24, 2016 at Manor Care Health Services in Chambersburg. He was born Monday, July 11, 1938 in Shippensburg, the son of the late Dorsey L. and Gail (Reath) Ordway. Jake has owned and operated Orky's in Shippensburg for the past 26 years. He was a member of The Chambersburg Club, Marine Corp League, Burt J. Asper American Legion Post 46 in Chambersburg, Durff-Kuhn VFW Post 6168, Shippensburg, Hub City Club, Minnequa Club, Elks of Chambersburg, a life member of the NRA and National Wild Turkey Federation. He was also a member of the Shippensburg Chamber of Commerce. He served in the US Air Force and loved to hunt bear, deer and turkey, especially in Tioga County. He enjoyed fly fishing and riding his ATV. He is survived by his companion of 33 years and wife of 23 years, Sheila M. (Golden) Ordway. He is also survived by four daughters, Nicole Spuhler of Greenville, NC, Angelique and husband John Ward of Mechanicsburg, Francine Mellott of Hershey, Selena Lutz of Shippensburg, one son, James "Sean" Reilly of Shippensburg, four grandchildren, Erik Sorensen, Nicolas Sorensen, Ridgley Ward, Emily Ward, an adopted-granddaughter, Sara Cover Thillipy, three brothers Ronald Ordway of Shippensburg, Cecil Ordway of East Norriton, PA, Lamar Ordway of Carlisle, and one sister, Bonnie Frey of Shippensburg. He was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Shippensburg. A celebration of Jake's life will be held at 7:00 PM on Saturday, July 2 at Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg with Reverend Derek Wadlington officiating. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 5:00 PM until time of services. Memorial contributions may be made to SpiriTrust Lutheran Homecare and Hospice, 2700 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17202.
