Richard E. Railing, age 88 of Shippensburg, died Saturday, December 25, 2021 at WellSpan Health Chambersburg Hospital. He was born Sunday, September 10, 1933 in Shippensburg, the son of the late Chester T. and Mildred E (Ott) Railing. Richard was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Richard was a member of the Memorial Lutheran Church, its Men’s Sunday School, and a trustee for 11 years. He was a member of Shippensburg Masonic Lodge #315, Harrisburg Consistory, the Scottish Rite, and Hub City Club. He retired from Volvo, formerly Ingersoll Rand, after 18 years of service . He is survived by his wife, Dorothy J. (Whitmer) Railing, with whom he would have celebrated 70 years of marriage on March 29, 2022; sons, Richard D. Railing and wife, Coletta of Walnut Bottom and Scott M. Railing and wife, April of Shippensburg; granddaughter, Hannah Haramis and husband, Travis of Maryland and great-grandson Howland Haramis. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg. Friends are invited to a Graveside Service at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, December 29 in Spring Hill Cemetery in Shippensburg with Reverend Dr. Chris Suehr officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Memorial Lutheran Church, 34 E. Orange Street, Shippensburg, PA 17257, or St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
