Richard T. Gipe

Richard T. Gipe, Sr. age 71, of Shippensburg died Sunday, February 20, 2011 at his home.He was born Sunday, July 16, 1939 in Dover, NJ,a son of the late Ambrose N. and Irene (Bruce) Gipe. Dick attendedDover High School in New Jersey. He was formerly employed by Hahn Trucking in New Market, MD andCressler Trucking in Shippensburg. He was service manager at Parson's Ford, now Interstate Ford in Shippensburg. He had numerouspositions as a mechanic or service managerthroughout his life. He attended The Church of the Brethren in Shippensburg. He served in the US Marine Corps. Richard's wife, Mary (Thomas) Gipe to whom he was married for nearly 40 years, preceded him in death in 2008. He is survived by his sons, Richard T. Gipe, Jr., Shippensburg, and William D. and wife Tracy Gipe, Harpers Ferry, WV; three brothers: Bruce Gipe, Hagerstown, Glenn Gipe, Falling Waters, WV; Gary Gipe, Fairfield, three grandchildren, Anthony W., Morgan E. and Thomas O. Gipe. Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. A visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, February 23 at Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick, MD at a later date.
