Richard, “Rich”, Stanley VanNote, age 67, of Shippensburg, passed away Sunday, August 21, 2022 at Carlisle Regional Medical Center. He was born September 10, 1954 in Neptune, New Jersey, as the son of the late Stanley and Florence (Mesch) VanNote. Richard graduated in the Class of 1973 from Neptune High School in Neptune, N.J. After high school, Rich joined the U.S. Airforce and served during the Vietnam War era. He went on to work at Fort Monmouth, N.J. and then to Letterkenny Army Depot in the Department of Defense for 40 plus years. He was a member of American Legion, Post 223 in Shippensburg. In his spare time, Rich would like to go fishing, family gatherings and support his wife in her hobbies. He was known for his love of music and enjoyed going to concerts with his wife at the Luhrs Center. Rich is survived by his wife of 38 years, Agnes (Allen) VanNote; daughter, Melonie and her husband, Shawn Varner of Shippensburg; two sons, Andrew and Amanda VanNote and Ryan VanNote, both of Chambersburg; five grandchildren, Samantha Varner, Madeline Varner, Mackenzie Varner, Brooke and Axel VanNote; sister, Katrina A. Luczkow and her husband, Walter; five nephews, Chris Luczkow and wife, Jill Luczkow and their sons; Kevin Luczkow and husband, Michael Luczkow and their daughter; John VanNote and his wife, Jenny and Carl VanNote and his wife, Marlen and nephew, Clinton Geist and one niece, Jennifer Markowski and husband, Robert Markowski and their daughter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Carol L. Geist and his brother, Thomas C. VanNote. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Shippensburg. Memorial Services are at the discretion of the family. In lieu of flowers or contributions, the family suggests random acts of kindness be made in Richard’s memory.
