Robert, “Biggie” Arthur Bigler, age 79, of Shippensburg, passed away Thursday, March 4, 2021 at Menno Haven in Chambersburg. He was born September 28, 1941 in Roxbury, PA, the son of the late Arthur and Melva “Louise” (Etter) Bigler. Biggie graduated in the Class of 1959 from Shippensburg High School. He retired in 2006, after working in office services at PSCU. He previously worked as an insurance agent in the Shippensburg area for over 20 years. He was known as the owner/operator for Biggie’s Italian Sausage in Pennsylvania and surrounding states. He was a member of Durff-Kuhn VFW Post #6168 and American Legion Post #223. Biggie was also known for his archery skills and successful career with Bear Archery in Michigan. He made industry-wide changes with his revolutionary ideas and concepts that forged an exciting career in the archery field. In his spare time, Biggie enjoyed wood-working, maintaining his bird feeders, salt-water fishing, and hunting. Biggie is survived by his loving “bride”, of 35 years, Myrtice (Moffat) Bigler of Shippensburg; three children, Carmen (Bob) Zimbicki, Robert “Trent” (Tiffany) Bigler and Heather (Keith) Swartz; one step-daughter; two sisters, Cindy Hershey and Suzanne Rhodes; nine grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and his beloved fur babies, Layla, Holly and Bella. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Shippensburg. At Robert’s request, there will be no services at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made for “Biggie” to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg, PA 17257 to help defray the cost of funeral arrangements.
