Robert H. Cashman, age 75, of Arendtsville passed away Thursday, September 22, 2011 at York Hospital with his family by his side. He was born on Wednesday, March 11, 1936 in York Springs, the son of the late Thomas H. and Frances R. (Baker) Cashman. Robert graduated from York Springs High School in 1954. He retired from Bear Mountain Orchards in 1999 and continued working there until his illness. He had worked at Arendtsville Garage for many years, and O.C. Rice Inc. in Biglerville. He was a member of Zion United Church of Christ in Arendtsville where he and his wife Shirley served as church sextons for many years. He was a member of Good Samaritan Lodge #336 F and AM, Past High Priest of Knights Templar #79, and Past Commander of Commandry #226. He was also a life member of Arendtsville Fire Co. and a past member of Arendtsville Boro Council and planning commission. Robert served in the U.S. Army from 1959 until 1965. He is survived by his wife Shirley M. (Heller) Cashman to whom he was married for 54 years. He is also survived by his daughter, Kendra L. and husband Sam T. Redding of Biglerville, one "very special to his Pappy" grandson, Joel T. Redding; a sister, Kay F. Luse of York; two brothers: James H. of Missouri and Thomas E. of York Springs; and a number of nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles. Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 AM Tuesday, September 27 at Zion United Church of Christ, 3 Gettysburg Street, Arendtsville withReverend Dr. Kim Blocher officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Tuesday at the church from 10:00 AM until time of services. Memorial contributions may be made to Zion UCC, P.O. Box 538, Arendtsville, PA 17303 and Arendtsville Fire Company, Arendtsville, PA 17303.
