Robert Lowell Kime, age 85 of Bendersville, died Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at his home. He was born Thursday, December 15, 1927 in Bendersville, the son of the late Harvey and Mary (Webb) Kime. Robert graduated from Biglerville High School in 1947. He was self employed as a fruit grower his whole life. He was the founder of Kime's Cider Mill in Bendersville and attended the Farmers Market in Carlisle for 28 years. He was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church where he served for many years on the church council and as Sexton. He was a life member of the Bendersville Fire Company, served 30 years on the Bendersville Borough Council, and was founder of the Fruit Growers Restaurant at the South Mt. Fairgrounds which he managed from 1991-1996. Robert received the 1992 State Horticulture Association of PA Outstanding Fruit growers Award. His favorite hobby was organizing bus trips throughout the United States and Canada. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Cora Ellen (Slusser) Kime. He is also survived by two daughters: Susan L., husband Stanley Lupp, Donna K., and husband Galen Hartz, and two sons: Ricky E. and wife Jeannette Kime and Randy E. and wife Christine Kime, all of Bendersville; two brothers: Roland Kime of Mechanicsburg and Marvin Kime of Bendersville; nine grandchildren: Ron and wife Kim Lupp, Tammy (Lupp) and husband Larry Reed, Jodi Lupp, Jeffrey and wife Norretta Kime, Joseph and wife Tessa Kime, Clifton Kime, Christy (Kime) and husband Ken Beaston, Cody and wife Megan Kime, and Emily Kime; 10 great grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. He was preceded in death by sons Larry E. and Dale E. Kime, a brother, Delamar Kime and a sister, Julia Kime. Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, March 1 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 126 Church Street, Bendersville with Reverend Robert S. McEllroy III officiating. Interment will be in Bendersville Cemetery. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, February 28 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and on Friday at the church from 10:00 AM until time of services.
