Robert "Bob" Mackey

Robert “Bob” David Mackey, age 77, of Shippensburg, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2024 at UPMC Carlisle Regional Medical Center in Carlisle. He was born October 13, 1946 in Chicago, Illinois, as the son of the late Floyd P. and Bertha (Mulinix) Mackey.

After high school Robert was drafted into the US Army where he served during the Vietnam War. He retired from New Cumberland Army Depot after working there as a forklift operator for over 20 years. He was a member of the Freedom in Christ Church in Chambersburg. He was also a member of the Teamsters Local 776 and 992 and American Legion Post 223. In his spare time, Robert enjoyed watching the news and boxing.

Robert is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Rita (Willis) Mackey of Shippensburg; Kathy Gehres and her husband, James of Shippensburg; two brothers, Floyd Mackey, Jr. and Donald Mackey; two sisters, Paulette Zeger and Jackie Watson; three grandchildren, Shannon Gehres, Holly Mackey-Shaffer (Mike Shaffer) and Ashley Mackey, three great-grandchildren, Landon Gehres, Olivia Bechtel, and Chloe Shaffer and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his son, Robert D. Mackey, who passed on June 9, 2022, and his brother, Bertram Mackey.

Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Shippensburg. Celebration of Life Services for father, Robert David Mackey and son, Robert Donald Mackey will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 5:00 PM at Freedom In Christ Church, 4042 Sycamore Grove Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202, with Pastor John Pogue officiating. A Public Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until the time of services.
