Robert C. Peters Sr. of Biglerville died peacefully at his home on Saturday, January 9, 2016 surrounded by his family. Born August 31, 1932 in Hanover, Bob was the son of the late G. Harold and Katherine Palmer Peters. Gertie (Howe), his wife of 62 years, cared for him at home during his final days, just as he wished. Bob is survived by his two children, Robert Jr. and friend, Bert Gutshall, of Newville and Kathy and husband Jim Fissel of Arendtsville; and four grandchildren: Lindsay Peters of Newville, Justin Peters of Carlisle, Jason Fissel of Jacksonville FL, and Karah Fissel, currently studying abroad in Italy.Surviving siblings include George and wife, Marianne Peters of Vermont, "Shirl" Peters of Gettysburg, Larry "Jim" and wife, Mary Peters of Biglerville, and Nancy and husband, Larry Barbour of Gettysburg; as well as many nieces and nephews. Bob was employed by M.E. Knouse, Penn Dairies, Knouse Foods, and later retired after 33 years of dedicated services to the PA State University Fruit Research Laboratory in Biglerville. Bob was a member of Zion United Church of Christ, Arendtsville, and a life member of Adams County Fish and Game, Mummasburg Sportsman's Club, and the Ira E. Lady Post 262 of Biglerville. Bob loved the great outdoors.He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, woodworking and working in the fruit industry. He had mountain retreats in Sinnemahoning and Calvin, PA where he and his family shared many happy memories. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc. 111 S. Main Street, Bendersville. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, January 14 at 10:00 AM at Dugan Funeral Home with Reverend Dr. Kim Blocher officiating.Interment will be held in Hampton Cemetery.
