Robert B. Riley, age 93, formerly of Biglerville passed away Sunday, August 31, 2014 at Hollidaysburg Veteran's Home. He was born Saturday, June 4, 1921 in Gardners, the son of the late Bessie M. Emlet. Robert graduated from Biglerville High School in 1938. He was a carpenter and mason for almost sixty years. He retired from Phil Asper builder in Biglerville. He was a life member of Biglerville Fire Company, long time member of the Upper Adams Fish and Game and Ira E. Lady American Legion Post 262 in Biglerville. He served in the US Army from 1942 to 1945, having achieved the rank of Sergeant serving with the 99th Artillery Division fighting in the Battle of the Bulge during World War II. He earned the Bronze Star for his service. His wife Irene E. (Gardner) Riley passed away in 2005. He is survived by three daughters, Carolyn E. Wright of Dover, Deb A. Rinehart of York Springs, Bonnie S. Rondeau of New Oxford, a son, Robert E. Riley of Shippensburg, ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. His grandson, Robert E. Riley, Jr., a brother, Kenneth Emlet and a sister, Marlene Medarac preceded him in death. Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 4 at Dugan Funeral Home with Reverend Linda Summers officiating. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until time of services.
