Robert Vernon Harris

Robert Vernon Harris, age 84, Aspers died Thursday, December 13, 2012 at Hanover Hospital in Hanover. He was born Monday, January 23, 1928 in Upper Darby, PA and was the son of the late Robert Harris and Myrtle (McCalister) Keefer. Robert graduated from Marple Newtown High School. He was employed by Bell Telephone for 35 years. He was a member of Heidlersburg United Brethren Church and a member of the Masonic Lodge 336 of Gettysburg. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on the USS Bergall. His wife, M. Jane Harris died April 15, 1996. He is survived by two sons: Rodney and wife, Judy Harris of New Oxford, PA and Gary Stephen and wife, Susan Harris of Nokesville, VA. His five grandchildren are Zachary Harris of Austin, TX, Rachael Harris of Richmond, VA, Jeremy Harris of CA, Michelle Harris of Philadelphia, and Nathen Harris of San Francisco, CA. Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 1:00 PM at United Brethren in Christ, 2725 Heidlersburg Road, Gettysburg with Reverend Craig Lowen officiating.
