Ronald G. Decker, Sr., age 74 of York Springs, died Monday, December 2, 2013 at Hershey Medical Center with his loving family by his side. He was born Thursday, October 5, 1939 in Gettysburg, the son of the late Raymond H. and Fannie M. (Smith) Decker, Sr. Ron was formerly employed by the former J. E. Baker Co. in York for 32 years. He was a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ in New Chester. He was well known at the Rutters store in Hampton, enjoying a cup of coffee with friends and scratching an instant lottery ticket. He enjoyed going to Rosie's Restaurant for dinner and listening to music. Ron never missed a sporting event for his grandchildren. After the passing of his wife, he enjoyed spending time with his brother fixing up his John Deere tractor for the Latimore Valley Fair tractor parade and attending local auctions. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. His wife, Carolyn L. Decker passed in November 2012. He is survived by two daughters: Shelly Ann and husband Roy Moore of East Berlin, Jennifer L. and husband Brad Wolf of York Springs; one son, Ronald G. and wife Lisa Decker, Jr. of Dillsburg; eight grandchildren, one great-granddaughter; three sisters: Miriam Morrow, Rosalee McCartney and Shirley Smith, all of Mechanicsburg; and one brother: Raymond "Junie" Decker, Jr. of Dillsburg. Two sisters preceded him in death: Margaret Pentz and Beatrice Uplinger and two brothers: Clyde and Glenn Decker. Professional services have been entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main St., Bendersville. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, December 7 at St. Johns United Church of Christ, 2243 Hunterstown-Hampton Rd., New Chester with Reverend Doug Hahn officiating. Interment will be in Hampton Union Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Saturday at the church from 10:00 AM until time of services. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, 417 Phoenix Drive, Suite A, Chambersburg, PA 17201 or Love Inc., 64 West Chocolate Avenue, Hershey, PA 17033.
