Ronald H. Harman, age 72 of York Springs, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2014 at West Shore Hospital in Mechanicsburg. He was born Friday, January 23, 1942 in Gettysburg, the son of Esther M. (Leatherman) Harman of York Springs and the late Harry U. Harman. Ronald graduated from Gettysburg High School in 1960. He earned his Associate Degree in Accounting from Thompson College in York. He was formerly employed by Presbyterian Homes as an interim administrator at various locations including Forest Park Nursing Home in Carlisle. He was the first administrator of the Transitional Care Unit at Gettysburg Hospital. He was also a former administrator at the former Piney Mountain Nursing Home in Fayetteville. Ron started his career in nursing home administration at the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home in Palmyra, where he served for 14 years. He was a member of Gettysburg Church of the Brethren, where he served as a deacon for a period of time. He was well loved and respected by everyone who knew him. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 51 years, Harriet (Boyer) Harman. He is also survived by a niece, Christine Frost of Michigan and a nephew, J. Eric Boyer, PhD of State College, a brother-in-law, J. Larry and wife Martha Boyer of Biglerville, a sister-in-law Patricia A. (Boyer) Lewis and husband Melvin of Taneytown. Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 15, at Gettysburg Church of the Brethren, 1710 Biglerville Road, Gettysburg, with Reverend Pat Arendt and Reverend Richard Godfrey officiating. Private interment will be in Biglerville Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 1:30 PM until time of services.
