Ronald “Ron” Lee Yanick, Sr., age 85 of Shippensburg, passed away Monday, November 5, 2018 surrounded by his family at his home. He was born Sunday, June 25, 1933 in Shamrock, PA, the son of the late Robert and Rosella (Taylor) Yanick. Ronald proudly served in the U.S. Army as a Private during the Korean War. He was employed as a clerk by Seven Eleven. He was a member of Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall in Chambersburg. In his spare time, Ron enjoyed doing little projects in his yard. He loved to garden both vegetables and flowers. Ron was a huge Steeler’s fan. He also enjoyed completing puzzles, working on crosswords and collecting Hot Wheels model cars and ships. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Erna B. (King) Yanick, three brothers, Regis Yanick, Rodney Yanick and Randy Jack, one sister, Rosaleen, three daughters, Roxann Yanick, Rhonda Lee Cropper and Rosella Gibbin and husband Jeffrey, all of Shippensburg, one son, Ronald Lee Yanick, Jr. and wife, Erika of York, six grandchildren, April M. Oliver, Matthew A. Yanick, Jeffrey L. Gibbin, II, Mark A. Gibbin, Ben Yanick and Lillian Yanick and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death two brothers, Robert and Richard Yanick, one sister, Rhea May Christian and one grandson, Jonathan N. Cropper. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Shippensburg. Memorial Services will be on Saturday, November 17 at 2:00 PM at the Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall, 5878 Greenvillage Road, Chambersburg with Brother Herold Cooper officiating. Memorial contributions may be made in Ron’s name to Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall, 5878 Greenvillage Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202.
