Ruth Barbara Buchter

Ruth Barbara Buchter, age 98, of Shippensburg, passed away Thursday, May 18, 2023 at Chambersburg Hospital. She was born September 19, 1924 in Maspeth, New York, as the daughter of the late John and Rose (Thomas) Engesser.

Ruth worked as a seamstress for several years at a textile company. In her spare time, Ruth enjoyed crocheting, baking and reading.

Ruth is survived by her four sons, Robert Buchter and his wife, Rita of Shippensburg, Ronald E. Buchter of Long Island, NY, Richard Buchter of Chambersburg and Randy E. Buchter and his wife, Jennifer, of Long Island, NY; two sisters, Marion Haller of Dover, DE and Pat Morris of NJ; eight grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Egon O. Buchter, who passed March 14, 2002; and her sister, Helen Lenhart.

Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. A Public Viewing will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg, PA 17257. A brief Memorial Mass and prayers will follow at 2:30 PM and be officiated by Rev. Ben Dunkelberger.
