Ruth J. Decker, age 90 of Gardners, passed away Monday, June 11, 2018 at her daughter's home. She was born Monday, October 3, 1927 in Gardners, the daughter of the late William Oscar and Lillie (Starner) Hinkle. Ruth graduated from Biglerville High School in 1945. She was formerly employed by Equitable Trust Bank, now Bank of America in Baltimore for 32 years. After retirement from Equitable Trust, she worked for Farmers Bank in the marketing department. She then went to the Crosskeys Village where she worked as a cook for 15 years. Her favorite hobbies included gardening, reading, sewing and ceramics. She could do just about anything. She and her husband loved to travel all over the United States. Her husband Ralph E. Decker passed away in 2010. She is survived by six daughters, Rita J. Benecewicz of Parkville, MD, Roberta L. and husband Melvin Mentzer of Gardners, Deborah J. and husband Robert Gerber of Baltimore, MD, Peggy L. and husband Edward Cooper of Brighton, CO, Dianne M. and husband Dave Leonard of Franklin, WV and Tammie S. Decker and companion Charlie Crowder of Essex, MD, nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by eleven siblings. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 S. Main Street, Bendersville. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, June 15 at Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., Bendersville with Rev. Steven Baker officiating. Interment will follow in Hampton Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Thursday, June 14 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to SpiriTrust Hospice, 260 West High Street, Gettysburg, PA 17325.
