Ruth E. Harmsen

Ruth E. Harmsen, age 83 of York Springs, died Monday, November 25, 2013 atGettysburgCenterinGettysburg. She was born Tuesday, June 3, 1930 in Baltimore, the daughter of the late William G. and Bertha A. (Kale) Smith. Ruth was formerly employed by South Baltimore General Hospital as a nurse for several years. She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in York Springs. Ruth loved to bowl with her friends at Hanover Bowling Center. Her husband, Wilbert D. Harmsen passed April 13, 2001 in Bismarck, ND. She is survived by one daughter, Denise L. and husband Kenneth Weigle of York Springs; two sons: Kevin Fick of Mechanicsburg and Gary Fick of Mechanicsburg; a brother, Raymond Smith of Chester, MD; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Walter "Butch" Fick, Jr., formerly of Hanover, her sister, Elaine Allen and brother, Gilbert Smith. Professional services have been entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, November 30, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 216 Main St., York Springs with Reverend Ben Leese officiating. Interment will be in Sunnyside Cemetery. A viewing will be held at the church on Saturday from 9:00 AM until time of services.
