Ruth Eleanor (Sowers) Taylor, age 91 of Bendersville, died September 14, 2013. She was born January 21, 1922 at home in Hunters Run, South Middleton Township. She was the daughter of the late Elmer Isaac and Clara Belle (Yohe) Sowers. Ruth graduated from Boiling Springs High School in 1940. She worked after high school at Woolworth's Store in Carlisle.She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Bendersville and taught Sunday school in the children's department for many years.Ruth was a very devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loved to sew and cook. Her husband Glenn Edward Taylor passed September 6, 2005. She is survived by daughter Diane Kay and husband Leonard J. Kuhn of 898 Sandbank Road, Mt. Holly Springs; grandchildren: Brian and wife Rebecca Kuhn, Michelle (Kuhn) and husband David Disbrow, Matthew and wife Sara Shank, Michael and wife Vanessa Shank; great grandchildren: Benjamin and Abigail Disbrow, Madison Kuhn, Ethan, Caleb and Hannah Shank, and Lacey Shank. She is also survived by her sister Betty M. (Sowers) Guise of Gardners; nephews Gregory Guise, Douglas Guise, Daniel Myers and David Myers and niece Sharon (Myers) Fox. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Lorraine Shank of Gardners who died May 30, 2004 and a sister, Isabelle Mae (Sowers) Myers from Arizona who died December 24, 2005. Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, September 19 at 11:00 AM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 126 Church Street, Bendersville, with Reverend Robert S. McEllroy III officiating. A viewing will be held from 10:00 AM until time of services. Interment will be held in Bendersville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 449, Bendersville, PA 17306.
