Ruth Melissa Rown

Ruth Melissa Rown, age 93, of Orrtanna, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 29, 2024, surrounded by her family at her home in Orrtanna. She was born October 5, 1930 in McClure, PA, as the daughter of the late Roman W. and Mary E. (Trego) Kline.

Ruth attended Reedsville High School. She was primarily a homemaker but had also worked at Nittany Quill for many years and the local ice cream parlor when she lived in Florida. In her spare time, Ruth enjoyed gardening, watching birds in her garden at the feeders, needlework, crocheting, cooking and baking. Ruth was a member of Memorial Baptist Church in Gettysburg.

Ruth is survived by her loving daughter, Linda Baker and her husband, Steve of Orrtanna; three grandchildren, Nathan M. Baker and his wife, Melissa of Lewisburg, PA, Amy Lamb and her husband, Jason of Gettysburg and Aaron R. Baker and his wife, Karina of Fairfield, PA; three great-grandchildren, Wyatt Steven Lamb and Ruthie Nadine Lamb and Francis J. Lamb, all of Gettysburg and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Richard M. Rown; five brothers, Donald, Fred, Clayton, Jack and Jay and her sister, Phyllis Shirk.

Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main St., Bendersville. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Memorial Baptist Church, 1096 Biglerville Rd, Gettysburg, PA 17325 with Pastor Jeff Sours and Pastor Steve Baker. A Public Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of services.
