Sandra J. Lazar

Sandra J. Lazar, age 77 of Chambersburg, passed away Saturday, September 1, 2018 at Manor Care Nursing and Rehab in Chambersburg. She was born Friday, November 22, 1940 in Camden, ME, the daughter of the late James S. and Vivian G. (Nye) Armstrong. Sandra graduated from New England Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing as an RN in 1962. She entered the US Air Force in 1963 and saw active duty as a nurse during the Vietnam War. While serving, she attained the rank of Major in the USAF Reserves. She was a member of Chambersburg Bible Church. She married her husband, Traian F. Lazar in 1966 and they were stationed in many states and countries until Ted retired from the USAF and they went on the mission field with Transworld Radio to Sri Lanka for over two years. They had lived at Rumney Bible Conference in New Hampshire where she was camp nurse until they moved to Shippensburg in 2007. Traian passed away August 6, 2016. She is survived by one sister, Karen N. and husband Carl Forrest of West Enfield, ME, four sisters-in-law, and several nieces and nephews. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Shippensburg. Private services will be held at the discretion of the family. Entombment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
