Sara M. Sandoe

Sara M. Sandoe, age 92, of New Oxford, formerly of Biglerville, passed away Thursday, February 6, 2020 at Hanover Hospital. She was born Tuesday, April 12, 1927 in Biglerville, the daughter of the late Roy A. and Esther V. (Bittinger) Mickley. Sara graduated from Gettysburg High School in 1945. After high school, she was employed as a secretary at the Gettysburg High School. After marrying Ralph, she along with her husband owned and operated Sandoe's Fruit Market and Wholesale for many years. She was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Biglerville, where she taught Sunday School. She was also a member of the National Apple Museum, and a member of Trilogy Club. Her husband Ralph S. Sandoe passed away in 2015. She is survived by two daughters, Susan P. and husband Frank Pizzuto of Biglerville, Carolyn L. and husband Bill Godwin of Garland, TX; four grandchildren, Sarah and husband Michael Martin of New Cumberland, Jackie and husband Josh Bruce of Gettysburg, Kelly and husband Aaron Solove of Boston, MA, Jacob Godwin of Arlington, TX and two great-grandchildren, Zach and Abby Martin and one sister, Margaret (Peggy) Benner of Fairfield. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Janet Hostetter and Mary Deveney and two brothers, Kenneth and Curvin Mickley. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, February 10 at Nicary Meeting House at Cross Keys Village, 2990 Carlisle Pike, New Oxford with Reverend Linda S. Titzell officiating. Private interment will be in Biglerville Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until time of services.
