Sarah L. Bucher

Sarah L. Bucher, age 95 of Bendersville, passed away peacefully, Saturday, November 30, 2024 at Paramount Nursing and Rehab in Fayetteville. She was born Thursday, September 5, 1929 on her family farm in Mt. Joy Twp., Adams Co., the daughter of the late Norman B. and Clara L. (Appler) Conover.

Sarah was the 6th of six children. She attended the one room schoolhouse in Two Taverns and graduated from Gettysburg High School in 1948. She, along with her husband Jim, were 50 year members of the Upper Adams Lions Club. She was a member of the Upper Adams Women's Bowling League, Bendersville Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, and she participated in a couples card club. Sarah and Jim displayed apples for judging at the South Mountain Fair and PA Farm Show for Adams County Nursery. Sarah enjoyed horseback riding and she had a horse named Lucky. She also loved to golf and throw horseshoes. She and Jim were season ticket holders to Penn State Football games for 27 years. Sarah and Jim enjoyed music and dancing to big band music. She attended the blue grass festivals at Oakside Community Park and the music nights at the National Apple Museum in Biglerville. She also enjoyed sitting on her front porch talking to people. Sarah and Jim loved to travel, visiting most of the United States.

Sarah was the loving wife of James R. Bucher who passed away in January 2016. She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie A. and husband Kurt Janke of Hanover; son, Greg A. Bucher and wife Hitomi Shimose of Gettysburg; grandson, Luke R. Bucher of Florida. She was preceded in death by her five siblings, Alvin B. Conover, Willis M. Conover, Betty Jane Kravetz, Irvin S. Conover and Guy L. Conover.

Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. A Viewing will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, December 5, 2024 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and on Friday from 10:00 AM until time of services. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, December 6, at Dugan Funeral Home, with Revernd Susan Scott. Interment will be in Bendersville Cemetery.
