Sharon A. Spangler, age 66 of Aspers, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at her home with her loving family by her side. She was born Saturday, June 19, 1948 in Altoona, the daughter of the late Bruce R. and Mary L. (Hoban) Stevens, Sr. Sharon graduated from Holidaysburg High School in 1966. She earned a nursing degree from Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland, OR in 1970, her B.S. of Nursing from Eastern Mennonite College in VA in 1975, and her Masters in Health and Education from Penn State University. She was formerly employed by Upper Adams School District as a nurse for 14 years. Before working for Upper Adams, Sharon was a Registered Nurse at the Gettysburg Hospital for 28 years. She was a member of Idaville United Brethren Church and the Upper Adams Lions Club. Sharon will be remembered for her missionary trips to Honduras which she did for 14 summers. She also organized many bus trips from the Upper Adams Area. She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Vincent W. Spangler. She is also survived by two sons, Russell L. and wife Amanda Spangler of Saint Benedict, Mark T. and wife Courtney Spangler of Aspers and two grandchildren, Kaylee and Connor Spangler. She was preceded in death by her brother Bruce R. Stevens, Jr. Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 14 at Idaville United Brethren Church, 3590 Carlisle Road, Gardners with Reverend Stuart Johns officiating. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 12:00 noon until time of services. Sharon requested no flowers at her service. She asked that gift cards be given to the Biglerville and Gettysburg Soup Kitchen or Upper Adams Food Bank. Memorial contributions may also be sent to her church.
