Sherril E. Smith

Sherril E. Smith, age 88 of Gettysburg, passed away Saturday, July 22, 2017 at SpiriTrust Home. He was born Saturday, April 6, 1929 in Latimore Twp., Adams County, the son of the late Claude and Z. Blanche (Jacobs) Smith. Sherril graduated from York Springs High School. He was employed by Conrail for 43 years. He was a member of Chestnut Grove Lutheran Church and the International Order of Odd Fellows. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Shirley Ann (Heller) Smith. He is also survived by his daughter, Kay A. Heikenfeld of Alma, WV, a son, John M. Smith of Orrtanna, two grandchildren and three step-grandchildren, two sisters, Nancy Fleming of Dillsburg, and Helen Breitegam of Kimberton, PA. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, July 27 at Chestnut Grove Lutheran Church, 1136 Mountain Road, York Springs with Reverend Ben Lease and Reverend Sherry Miller officiating.
