Shirley A. Kazimer

Shirley A. Kazimer, age 60 of Shippensburg died Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at Harrisburg Hospital. She was born Tuesday, April 25, 1950 in Washington D.C.,the daughter of R. Elizabeth Schaeffer of Chambersburg and the late Joseph E. Schaeffer. Shirley graduated fromChambersburg High School in 1968. She then graduated from Bryn Mawr School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. She was formerly employed by Carlisle Hospital. She, along with Dr. Joseph Brazel, started the Hospice program at Carlisle Hospital and she worked as a Hospice nurse. After leaving Hospice she continued as an RN providing in-home care for recovering patients. She is survived by her husband, Richard E. Kazimer to whom she was married for38 years. She is also survived by her sister, Betty Jo Schaeffer of Chambersburg, her brother, J. Michael Schaeffer and wife Sharon of Shippensburg; nephew Joseph Schaeffer, mother-in-law, Sylvia J. Kazimer,brother-in-law John R. Kazimer and sister-in-law Betty J. Kazimer, all of Shippensburg. She was predeceasedby her father-in-law, John A. Kazimer. Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 14 in Spring Hill Cemetery, Shippensburg with the Reverend Earl Stovall officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 2325 Country Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202.
