Shirley M. Bower

Shirley M. Bower, age 73 formerly of Biglerville, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at Brethren Home in New Oxford. She was born Wednesday, September 13, 1939 in Gettysburg, the daughter of the late Ray and Estella (Trump) Finfrock. Shirley graduated from Biglerville High School in 1958. She was a homemaker most of her life, raising her four children. She was postmistress at the former Guernsey Post Office and country store. She was also tax collector for Butler Township for many years. Her husband, Reb Bower died in 2002. She is survived by three sons: Wayne and wife Sharon Bower of Biglerville, Rick and wife Kathy Bower of Biglerville and Doug and wife Carol Bower of Aspers; six grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; and her sister, Betty Finfrock of Gardners. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Cathy B. Kime and a grandson, Nathan Bower. Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville is handling professional services. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 9 at Dugan Funeral Home with Reverend Craig Loewen officiating. Interment will be in Wenksville Cemetery. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Friday March 8 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 3544 N.
