Shirley M. Cassidy

Shirley M. Cassidy, age 86 of Shippensburg, died Thursday, October 25, 2012 at Sarah Todd Nursing Home in Carlisle. She was born Friday, December 19, 1925 in Altoona, the daughter of the late Clarence and Helen (Dixon) Ulsh. Shirley graduated from Altoona High School. She was formerly employed by Bon-Ton in Chambersburg and L'aiglon in Shippensburg.She taught Swimming lessons at Shippensburg Memorial Park in the late 50's and early 60's. She was a member of Our Lady of the Visitation in Shippensburg and past preident of the Shippensburg Women's Club. Her husband, Hebert R. Cassidy, whom she married on June 26, 1948, died July 20, 2004. She is survived by two sons: Herbert R.and wife Gloria Cassidy of Shippensburg, and Michael J. and wife Julie Cassidy of Newville; four grandchildren: Tonya Funk, Lori Rauber, Jennifer Serino and Christopher Cassidy, all of Shippensburg and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, William Ulsh. Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Shippensburg.Services will be held Wednesday, October 31 at 1:30 PM at Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg with Reverend Father David Hillier officiating.
