Starr E. Quackenbush, age 78, of Shippensburg, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2019 at Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg. She was born Sunday, April 20, 1941 in Bronx, NY. Starr graduated from St. John’s Episcopal School of Nursing in 1962 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. Starr maintained her license at Forest Park Nursing Home and was the clinical nurse who developed a rehabilitation program at Roxbury Treatment Facility. She was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Mechanicsburg. Starr enjoyed gardening, cooking, fishing, knitting, and sewing and would donate the garments she would sew and knit to Women’s Crisis Center. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Herbert W. Quackenbush of Shippensburg; two daughters, Starr E. Ariola (Daniel) of Carlisle, PA and April J. Lohmann (Kurt) of Rolla, MO; three sons, Bret C. Quackenbush (Hetal) of Lakeland, FL, Wayne A. Quackenbush (Linda) of Port Richie, FL and Darren T. Quackenbush (Bobbi) of Sacremento, CA; five grandchildren; one great grandson and three surviving sisters, Peggy Gilmour (Rod) of Virginia Beach, VA, Lillian Gross (David) of Dillsburg, PA and Judy Jeffers (Ken) of Cape Cod, MA. She will be loved and missed by all who knew her. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Shippensburg. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg, PA 17257 with Mother Barbara Hutchinson officiating. A Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in St. Luke’s Church Cemetery in Mechanicsburg, PA. Memorial contributions may be made in Starr’s name to St. Jude’s Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
