Susan Jane Bender

Susan Jane Bender, age 81 passed away surrounded by her family on Monday, April 29, 2024 at the SpiriTrust Lutheran Village, in Gettysburg, PA. She was born on October 4, 1942 in Baltimore, MD, daughter of the late Leonard and Margaret (Cox) Eckenrode.

Susan graduated from Catonsville High School in 1960 and then went to Potomac State in West Virginia. She went on to work as a legal secretary in Catonsville, MD for 32 years before her retirement. She always had a kind word for everyone, and a sense of humor that stayed with her to the end. She enjoyed spending time with her husband and family. Susan loved all animals, but especially dogs.

Susan is survived by her husband of 60 years, Ronald Delroy; daughter, Kimberly (Bender) Mayberry and husband Paul, and son Mark Bender. She is also survived by her sister, Nancy (Eckenrode) Bender and brother, Leonard Eckenrode; two grandchildren, Michael Mayberry and wife Kate, and Justin Mayberry and wife Maggie; and two great-grandchildren, Jackson and Emmaline Mayberry, that she adored.
