Susan Kay Weatherly, age 67, of Cashtown, passed away peacefully at her home on March 25, 2026.
Born on December 21, 1958, in Gettysburg, Susan was the daughter of the late Herbert Myers and Betty Lou Luckenbaugh. A graduate of Biglerville High School, and happily retired in recent years. She built a life centered on family, home, and the simple joys that brought her the greatest happiness.
Susan embraced her role as a homemaker with care and devotion, creating a warm and welcoming home for those she loved. She found joy in life’s everyday moments—tending to her flower gardens, preparing meals, cooking and baking for family gatherings, and decorating to make holidays especially meaningful. Whether it was a festive celebration or a quiet afternoon, Susan had a gift for making those around her feel cherished and cared for. She enjoyed relaxing camping trips by the lake, walking on the beach, and discovering lighthouses.
Above all else, her grandchildren were the light of her life. She took great pride in being their Grammy, showering them with love, attention, and affection at every opportunity. She also held a special place in her heart for her beloved cat, Coco, whom she doted on endlessly.
Susan is survived by her devoted husband of 19 years, Gary Weatherly, who shared in her life’s journey and many treasured memories. She leaves behind her son, Matthew Dieffenderfer and his wife, Renée, of Gresham, Oregon; and her daughter, Aimee Bender and her husband, Alex, of New Bloomfield. She was a proud and loving Grammy to Felix Dieffenderfer, eagerly awaiting the arrival of his baby sister; Ava Grace Bender; and Nolan Michael Bender.
She is also survived by her siblings: Nancy Gentry and her husband, Earl; Barbara Zepp and her husband, Robert; Diane Fowler; Robert Luckenbaugh and his wife, Karen; and Ronald Luckenbaugh, along with her sister-in-law, Linda Luckenbaugh. Susan will be fondly remembered, as well, by her many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Susan was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Luckenbaugh, and her sister, Pamela Shatto.
Professional services have been entrusted to Dugan Funeral & Cremation, Ltd., 111 S. Main Street, Bendersville. In accordance with Susan’s wishes, there will be no public viewing. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory and the love she shared.
