Terry M. Hart, Sr.

December 9, 1941 — June 5, 2021

Terry Michael Hart, Sr., age 79, of Waynesboro, passed away Saturday, June 5, 2021 at Chambersburg Hospital. He was born December 9, 1941 in Hagerstown, MD, the son of the late Brooks Warren and Ernestine Belle (Michael) Hart. Terry graduated in the Class of 1959 from South Hagerstown High School. He proudly served in the US Navy for ten years, from 1959-1969. He then attended Hagerstown Community college for a few years and a college in New York, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. He also worked as an electronic component sales representative for most of his life. He was a member of the Waynesboro American Legion Post #0015. He enjoyed camping, hunting, watching baseball, hiking, flying small planes, and anything outside. He also loved going on long car rides through the mountains and woods, and going on steam engine train rides. He rescued many animals from Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina hit. He is survived by four sons, Scott A. (Hillary) Hart of Waynesboro, Terry M. Hart, Jr. of Virginia, Jeffrey L. Hart of Waynesboro, and Brian L. Hart of Arizona; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Janet Kay Cole of Maryland; one brother, Warren Victor (Paula) Hart of West Virginia; and four daughter-in-laws, Beth Beck, Kathryn Hart, Gwen Hart, and Ruth Hart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death last year by his loving wife of 61 years, Derrlene (Kniesley) Hart. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Shippensburg. Services will be held at the discretion of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Washington County, 13011 Maugansville Road, Hagerstown, MD 21740.
