Terry C. Ryder, age 65 of Amberson, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 15, 2014 at his home. He was born Tuesday, May 31, 1949 in Amberson, the son of the late Norman C. and Madelyn J. (Doughtery) Ryder. Terry graduated from Shippensburg High School in 1967. He was formerly employed by Scotland School for Veteran's Children for 31 years, retiring in 1999. He was a member of the NRA. Terry was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He enjoyed frequent hunting trips to Canada with friends and loved spending time with his family. His wife, Vonnie M. (Hammond) Ryder passed away in 1985. He is survived by his daughter, Diane J. (Randy) Forbes of Amberson; three sons, Terry L. (Marrissa) Ryder, Mark C. Ryder, Roy F. (Barbara) Ryder, all of Amberson; a step-daughter, Marsha Frotscher of Newburg; a step-son, Mark Burdge of Amberson; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandson; three sisters, Julia Ile of Shippensburg, Virginia Thomas of Seattle, WA and Susan Shatzer of Orrstown. He is also survived by his companion and friend, Debra A. Johnson. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Norman C. Ryder and grandson, Heath C. Ryder. Cremation services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Shippensburg. A visitation will be held Friday, June 20 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at Amberson United Methodist Church, 19357 Amberson Road, Amberson.
