Thomas Mitchell Shields, Sr.

Thomas, “Tom”, Mitchell Shields, Sr., age 65, of Shippensburg, passed away Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Chambersburg Hospital. He was born April 5, 1956 in Carlisle, as the son of the late Charles J. Shields, Sr., and Demmie Ann (Geyer) Shields. Tom graduated from Shippensburg High School. He worked as a roofer for his entire life and worked for R & R Roofing and Jean Kelly Roofing. He was a member of the Moose Lodge #2500 in Shippensburg. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing pool. Tom is survived by his loving wife, Jenny Sue Mentzer of Shippensburg; daughter, Shania Shields; four sons, Dewayne Shields, Thomas Shields, Jr., Keith Shields and Tyler Shields; three step- sons; Cody Mentzer, Kevin Mentzer and Curtis Castle; two sisters, Leona Marpoe of Shippensburg and Mary Bowermaster of Shippensburg; two brothers, Charles J. Shields, Jr. of Shippensburg and William Shields of Palatka, FL, one grandson, three granddaughters and one step-grandson. In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Shields. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg, with Pastor Donald Mains officiating. A Public Viewing will take place from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at the funeral home. A Procession will follow at Air Hill Cemetery in Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Tom’s memory to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. to help defray the cost of the funeral expenses.
