Vance C. Johnston, age 83 of Biglerville, passed away January 20, 2026 at Gettysburg Hospital. He was born May 10, 1942 in Millville, NJ to the late Nathan and Doris (Schulenburg) Johnston. Vance attended Biglerville High School and Gettysburg College. He owned and operated D and D Roofing for 50 years.

Vance loved walking, being around his family, especially around the holidays when everyone would be in town, watching his grandchildren play sports, mentoring others and going out to eat with friends and former classmates. He enjoyed golfing at Piney Apple and was a “retired” golfer and a high school and college wrestling enthusiast.

Vance is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jane (Tuckey) Johnston; children, Keary Johnston and husband, Paul Smeck of Maine, John Johnston of York, Matthew Johnston of Allentown and Danielle Goodman and husband, Michael of Fredrick, MD; grandchildren, Kathleen, Nicholas, Sydney, Aidan, Michaela, Sara and Evalyn and sister, Kathy Johnston of Oregon. He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard.

Professional services have been entrusted to Dugan Funeral & Cremation, Ltd., 111 S. Main Street, Bendersville. At Vance’s request, there will be no viewing. A Celebration of Life will be held on February 2, 2026 at 11:00am at Wenksville United Methodist Church, 2010 Wenksville Road Biglerville, PA 17307, with fellowship and a light luncheon to follow.
