Verna Mae Reedy

Verna Mae Reedy, who passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on March 1, 1938, in Orrtanna, Pennsylvania, Verna lived a life rich with love, laughter, and lasting memories. She was the daughter of the late Charles Bowmaster and Ruth (Nintle) Bowmaster. 

Verna was a devoted mother and grandmother, cherished by her family and friends. She is survived by her sister Mary B. Walter, beloved daughter, Rhonda L. Murdock (George Murdock), and son, Wayne Reedy, Jr.; grandchildren, G. Matthew Murdock, Allison Kell (Christopher Kell), Alyssa Reedy and Taylor Reedy; great grandchildren, Houston Murdock, Raegan Kell and Jay Murdock. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Wayne Reedy Sr. and brother John C. Bowmaster.

 For many years, Verna served as a secretary for the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections. She loved to spend time with her family. She was an avide member of the Penn National Readers Group, Penn National Mahjong Group, Penn National Lions Club and a member of Falling Springs Questers Group. If she wasn't reading a book or playing Mahjong with her friends, you could find her down at the local auction or shopping with friends. 

Professional services have been entrusted to Dugan Funeral & Cremation, Ltd., 51 Asper Drive in Shippensburg. At this time, services will be held at a later date.
