Victor G. Byrd

Victor G. Byrd, age 56 of Shippensburg, died Friday, May 10, 2013 at Chambersburg Hospital. He was born Sunday, May 5, 1957 in Hobbs, New Mexico the son of James Anna (Byrd) Smith of Hobbs, New Mexico and the late Alvin Smith. Victor served in the U.S. Army from 1976 to 1992 and served during the first Gulf War. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his companion, Debora Eckelmann of Shippensburg. He is also survived by two sons: Damien Shells of Washington and Jeremy M. Wray of Shippensburg; one stepson, Joel Eckelmann of Greensboro, NC; four grandchildren: Donte, Andre, Ankil nad Kimera Shells; two sisters: Beverly Hornsby and Gwen Palmer; three brothers: Kenneth Byrd, Wayne Smith and Ken Palmer Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Shippensburg. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, May 15 at 7:00 PM at Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Shippensburg withReverend Stephen Fleming officiating.
