Violet I. Truett

Violet I. Truett, age 86 of Chambersburg, died Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at Shippensburg Healthcare Center. She was born Sunday, April 24, 1927 in Shippensburg, the daughter of the late Paul and Elizabeth (Gutshall) Varner. Violet was a homemaker most of her life. She was a member of Mainsville United Brethren Church. Her husband of 59 years, Jay E. Truett, Sr. survives her. She is also survived by four daughters: Gwendolyn J. and husband Theodore Pugh of Chambersburg, Debra S. and husband Donald Bingaman of Greencastle, Wanda J. and husband Doug Woodal of Chambersburg, Laurie A. and husband Jesse Asper of Newburg; two sons, Jay E. Truett, Jr. and Jeffrey L. Truett, both of Chambersburg; 14 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren; two sisters: Wanda Rotz of Chambersburg, Meda Leedy of Shippensburg, two brothers: Paul Varner, Jr., and Jack Varner both of Shippensburg. Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, August 24 at Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg with Reverend Robert Mentzer officiating. Interment will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 1:00 PM until time of services. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made payable to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg, PA 17257to assist the family with funeral expenses.
